Is it so difficult to get into private schools in the UK?

lvlvlvbao

The British private school 11+ exam is the entrance exam for Year 7, usually held in the autumn and winter of Year 6. It is mainly for 10-11 year old children to enter private schools (ordinary public schools are nearby admissions, no exams are required). For domestic parents and students, the content of the British 11+ exam is very different from the domestic primary school entrance exam, and it is more difficult, so it is very important to prepare for the exam in advance.

The 11+ exam is also in the form of a written test and an interview. The written test subjects are similar to those of the 7+, including mathematics, English, intellectual logic (verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning), etc. After passing the written test, there will be an interview. The specific test content and enrollment time will depend on each region and school. Because the exam is strict and competitive, and this exam is very important, parents and children need to prepare for the exam 1-2 years in advance. Today we will talk about mathematics in 11+.

The 11+ math test first tests students' English reading ability, and students can only solve problems if they understand the meaning of the questions. Secondly, unlike domestic exams, the UK places more emphasis on logical thinking and comprehension, and many questions are carefully designed for this purpose. Although the questions themselves are not necessarily difficult, students are required not only to master the key points of knowledge, but also to have flexible and adaptable thinking skills to solve problems quickly.

It is worth noting that the content of the 11+ math exam varies from school to school. The difficulty, number of questions, and time of the exam may vary from school to school. Generally speaking, the math exam has 30-40 questions, which will be divided into 2-3 parts, and the difficulty and number of questions in each part are different. Candidates must not only answer the questions correctly, but also complete the questions within the specified time to get a good score.

Example of real exam questions

The 11+ exams in the UK are usually set and graded by the school itself, or by the exam board, and all schools in the organization use this set of questions for the exam. Although we can't find a unified syllabus similar to the domestic exams, we can guide children to study according to the official syllabus (National Curriculum in England). The 11+ is mainly for Year 6, but it is recommended to learn some knowledge of Year 7 when preparing for the exam.

K Education 11+ tutoring courses are mainly divided into mathematics and English & verbal reasoning. Through systematic course learning, it helps children to quickly familiarize themselves with the 11+ exam subjects and improve their logical thinking ability and answering skills.
